Patricia recently attended the formal re-opening of the Playroof for the Children’s Hospital at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The Playroof, which is located on top of the Balmoral Building at the LRI, has recently been updated and improved after it was closed 5 years ago when it was deemed unsafe. The Playroof consists of a playground with a football pitch, swings, a climbing frame and a slide; there are also flower beds and a quiet area, giving children at the hospital the opportunity to get outside for some exercise and fresh air.
Funding for the project was generously donated by The John Lewis partnership, Next, the National Children’s Charity Rays of Sunshine, and Wats Construction.
Patricia visited the facility and was amazed at how the Playroof space has been improved: ‘It’s lovely to see how much the patients staying at the hospital really appreciate the opportunity to get outdoors. It is also an impressive use of space’. |
