    Visit to Highcross Leicester

Patricia Hewitt, MP for Leicester West, was delighted to visit the new Highcross Leicester shopping centre, due to open in Autumn 2008.

Covering a 10-hectare site, Highcross Leicester will absorb the existing Shires shopping centre to become a single vibrant destination for the region, incorporating 120 shops, 3 department stores, 15 new cafes and restaurants, 120 premimum contemporary apartments, 3,000 parking spaces, and Leicester's very first state of the art, 12-screen, 3,000 seater Cinema de Lux.

The visit involved a site tour of the £350 development. Patricia said "I was delighted to witness first-hand the scope of a project which will create a stunning centrepiece for Leicester."

Patricia was among the first to walk through the newly formed public squares and into the iconic buildings that will house the top fashion retailers and high profile restaurants to open at Highcross, which will propel Leicester into a top ten UK retail destination.
